Later, I bought a Samick Greg Bennett series acoustic (I don't really remember what model, it is actually hard to find anything about it online), it was my first acoustic with a solid top but it had it's share of issues, the overall construction was lackluster, it did not feel well built and while it played very well, it did not take long for it to start showing signs of problems (bridge lifting a bit, fret durability problems, etc) That being said, I liked the feel of the neck and it had a nice feeling of weight to it, felt pretty well built overall. Besides Olympic-level archery equipment, Samick also manufactures the very popular budget-oriented Sage and Polaris hunting bows.I have had mixed experiences with Samick, I owned a Greg Bennett series Tele clone (it was my second electric guitar ever) that looked great, played very nicely for it's price (though not nearly as good as a higher level MIM Fender or Epiphone) but it sounded pretty awful, the lipstick pickups were too weak and lacked the character you might find on a Danelectro and the "Duncan designed" humbucker was much to loud compared to the lipsticks and it made the guitar tough to really use. Since 1996, its products has been used to attain several Olympic gold medals, mostly by Korean athletes. In 2016, the company was restructured and its name changed to Samick Archery Co., Ltd. In 1990, this division was reorganized as Samick Sports Co., Ltd.

In 1975, Samick Pianos, as the company was known at that time, created an archery department and began building bows. In 2013, John Paulson outbid Samick when Steinway and Sons was taken private. By November 2010, Samick's share in Steinway Musical Instruments increased to 32%. In late 2009, Samick acquired a 16.5% share of Steinway Musical Instruments.

The announcement raises questions about the continued viability of relationship between Samick and Bechstein.
